Jamaica Tourist Board Fam Trip

On our last morning in Jamaica we gathered out front of our hotel for a group photo before jumping onto the shuttle bus to the airport.

At the Sangster International Airport we were given access to Club Mobay. A uniquely Jamaican, first class lounge experience. After checking in our luggage we got to escape the stress and chaos of security lines and crowded departure halls to a lounge where you can relax. The 10,000 square foot lounge affords you the space to enjoy a complimentary premium bar, snacks, wifi, shower facilities, a spa and duty free shopping. I took advantage of the spa and enjoyed a 30 minute back massage. The rest of the time, I caught up on some emails and enjoyed my last couple mojitos in Jamaica. It was a wonderful way to spend the few hours at the airport before waiting for our plane to board. Highly suggest using Club Mobay during any of your vacations to Jamaica! Here are the rates:

Rick's Cafe in Negril is one of Jamaica's most famous hot spots. It is located on top of a 35 foot cliff. It is a restaurant and bar but most people visit this popular spot for the cliff jumping and stunning sunsets. We were heading there for a quick visit to view these spectacular sunsets for ourselves. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy & rainy day with the clouds seeming to congregate right over the sun... which led no no sunset for us to see. It was still great experiencing the upbeat, party atmosphere of Rick's Cafe first hand. I will definitely be making a trip out there again next time I am in Jamaica.

Green Grotto Caves was our second excursion. This is another popular outing for tourists as well as locals. I hear a lot of schools take class trips to the Caves. This history of the Caves is very interesting. I enjoyed listening to the guide explaining who inhabited the Caves and what took place down there in the past. Each century in the past had a different group of people using the caves for different reasons such as a hideout, smuggling or storage for rum. The Caves are located between the resort centres of Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. The Caves are a large labyrinthine limestone cave with unique rock formations, stalactites, stalagmites, an abundance of overhead ceiling pockets and bats! Green Grotto is 1,525 metres long and 12 metres deep. It has numerous chambers and light holes and a subterranean lake – the Grotto Lake. This is a fun excursion for anyone looking to explore and learn a little bit of history.

Our third excursion, which took place on our last full day in Jamaica was my favourite! The Dunn's River Falls is definitely a must do for anyone visiting Jamaica. It was a blast! I had the idea that I would go and I wouldn't get my hair wet... haha was I wrong! I didn't realize it would take so long to walk up the falls. It took us nearly 2 hours! We often stopped for photos, which obviously made it take longer, but expect your climb to take an hour and a half when you go! The falls are about 180 feet high and 600 feet long. They are terraced like giant natural stairs. Several small lagoons are among the vertical sections of the falls. The falls empty into the Caribbean Sea where you start your climb. Anyone in your group not wanting to get wet or are unable to manage the rocky terrain are able to still come along as there are wooden stairs alongside the falls. While visiting Dunn's River Falls, you can enjoy the lovely white sand beach, purchase locally crafted items at their Craft Market or experience their gardens complete with a splash pad and waterslides.
