Ashley and Zack decided on a destination wedding because they both love the sand, sun and water. They were open to a few different destinations and ultimately decided Jamaica would be the perfect fit for them. The Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica was chosen as the resort for their stay and the big day.
A month before their wedding, I took a trip out to their house to legally marry them in their backyard with only their Maid of Honour, Best Man and 1 year old son, River in attendance. It was intimate and casual and everyone celebrated after with a beer, non-alcoholic champagne and some pizza!
Want to know a perfect example why you must hire a travel agent for your destination wedding? On the departure date, unfortunately 3 guests had missed their flight. One of them was Zack's mother who drove up to Toronto and unfortunately forgot her passport in Florida. We arranged for new flights for the 2 other guests that missed the flight and then arranged for her passport to be sent via FedEx up to Toronto and then a new flight and transportation from the airport booked for her to get to Jamaica in time before the wedding day.
During the planning of their wedding, Ashley and Zack found out they were pregnant. the wanted to incorporate a gender reveal into their wedding celebrations. So, I was given the envelope with the gender hidden inside and I purchased some confetti cannons in the appropriate colour. We planned a welcome bonfire to take place the evening after we arrived in Jamaica. During the bonfire, I put on my very best poker face as everyone tried to trick me into spilling the beans. It was quite fun being the only person to know what the gender was! Nearing the end of the bonfire we gathered everyone and Ashley, Zack, their MOH and BM popped the confetti cannons and we all found out they were having another little boy!
Guests received welcome bags in their hotel rooms the day that they checked in. The day before their wedding, Ashley and Zack did a fun little shoot on the beach. The wedding day was beautiful despite the crazy wind that randomly appeared that day. The ceremony took place at the beachside gazebo. Ashley's step dad brought his guitar so that he could play the music during the ceremony. During the processional, 2 "Beer Boys" walked down the aisle and danced as they handed out Red Stripe to the guests. The reception took place at the Pisces Tent on the beach. The centrepieces were lanterns place inside a ring of greenery and flowers. Their escort cards were little wooden flags placed inside of custom shot glasses sure to remind everyone of the fun they had that week every time they use them. After the plated dinner, the dance party began. At 10:00pm, the reception ended and the party continued at the disco. It was an amazing week spent with 50 wonderful people.
