French Château inspired wedding at Château des Charmes
After Covid hit... Weddings were getting cancelled and the idea of destination wedding was not an option. I took this time to plan and design an incredibly beautiful stylized shoot with some of my favourite vendors at one of my favourite venues here in Niagara. I drew inspiration from a painting by François-Hubert Drouais called Portrait d’une Elégante. Through this inspiration, I was able to bring the old-world charm of Bordeaux and Burgundy France in Autumn here to Niagara.
We chose October for our shoot in order to surround ourselves with the beautiful colours of the vineyards in the fall. We designed our shoot pulling those warm autumn colours and adding beautiful pops of powder blue. We used beautiful velvet napkins, gold accents and charger plates with a stunningly intricate design with that old-world, European feel.
The stationery was elegant and refined. Everything was hand written with an organic feel on handmade paper. The invitation suite included an elegant invitation with an elaborate custom monogram, a details card, a map with a hand drawn image of Château des Charmes and an RSVP card with a handmade inner envelope sealed with a wax seal. The outer envelope was lined with the painting with which we drew inspiration from for the shoot. Other day of stationery included escort cards, personalized tags for the boutonnieres and a place setting with a place card adorned with a wax seal and a custom designed, personalized menu for each guest.
A welcome basket filled with goodies and a handwritten and personalized welcome tag was designed to place into each guest's hotel room prior to their arrival. The perfect way to welcome guests from out of town and have them enjoy some delicious items local to the destination.
Our bride wore not one but two stunning custom gowns. Both are extremely romantic and perfect for an Autumn wedding in the vineyard. First is the delicate Lily dress with a timeless and flattering A line gathered tulle skirt with layers of sand and milk tulle and elbow length poet sleeves made from sheer shimmery French Chantilly lace. The deep v back held together by a vintage inspired velvet ribbon tie and soft floral appliqué is romantic yet simple. The Faith dress is nothing short of show stopping, timeless, unique and romantic. The Faith wedding dress is for an extraordinary bride who envisions herself in an extraordinarily romantic dress. Layers of milk and sand tulle with an over skirt of pure silk organza create a billowing ballgown. Shimmery applique with a hint of pewter and sequin add dimension and glamour all over the dress. The waist is encircled with the sweetest mocha velvet ribbon for a hint of nostalgia. The dress is finished off with pretty French lace, sequins and pearl buttons down the back.
